Airport Information

Blacksburg, Virginia (Virginia Tech)

Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) is the closest airport to Virginia Tech. ROA is located about 38 miles from campus.

From Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA): The Smart Way bus service drops passengers off at the Squires Student Center on campus. Smart Way is an affordable and convenient choice for most who plan to arrive Monday through Saturday. The bus does NOT run from the airport on Sundays. Be sure you have $4.00 USD (CASH ONLY) for bus fare. More information can be found on the Smart Way website.

Athens, Georgia (UGA, CCRC)

The closest airport to the University of Georgia is Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. The airport is approximately 75 miles from Athens; estimated travel time is 90 minutes depending on traffic conditions in Atlanta.

 

From Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport:  Groome Transportation offers a shuttle service available from the airport to campus.  More information can be found at the Groome Transportation website.

Parking

Blacksburg, Virginia (Virginia Tech)

Visitors can obtain daily parking passes from GlycoMIP personnel or visit Parking Services to obtain daily parking passes.  There are also limited meter spots in front of Steger Hall.

Athens, Georgia (UGA, CCRC)

Visitors can obtain daily parking passes either from the CCRC receptionist or through Parking Services if they need one for a longer period.

Insurance requirements

Blacksburg, Virginia (Virginia Tech)

The visitor will certify that upon agreement to allow entrance to the Virginia Tech GlycoMIP Laboratory, they will have the following insurance coverages at the time the work commences.  Additionally, they will maintain these during the entire term of the contract and that all insurance coverages will be provided by insurance companies authorized to sell insurance in Virginia by the Virginia State Corporation Commission.

Prior to and during the period of the agreement, Virginia Tech reserves the right to require the visitor to furnish certificates of insurance for the coverage required.

INSURANCE COVERAGES AND LIMITS REQUIRED:

  1. Workers’ Compensation – Statutory requirements and benefits.
  2. Employer’s Liability – $100,000.00
  3. General Liability – $1,000,000.00 combined single limit.  Virginia Tech and the Commonwealth of Virginia shall be named as additional insured.  This coverage is to include Premises/Operations Liability, Products and Completed Operations Coverage and Personal Injury Liability.
  4. Automobile Liability – $500,000.00

The visitor agrees to be responsible for, indemnify, defend and hold harmless Virginia Tech, its officers, agents and employees from the payment of all sums of money by reason of any claim against them arising out of any and all occurrences resulting in bodily or mental injury or property damage that may happen to occur in connection with and during the performance of the agreement, including but not limited to claims under the Worker’s Compensation Act. The visitor agrees that it will, at all times, after the completion of the work, be responsible for, indemnify, defend and hold harmless Virginia Tech, its officers, agents and employees from all liabilities resulting from bodily of mental injury or property damage directly or indirectly arising out of the performance or nonperformance of the agreement.
