Overview
Thermo’s Orbitrap Eclipse mass spectrometer enables the acquisition of both direct‑infusion and liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC‑MS) data. Samples ranging from intact proteins to complex digests and purified molecules can be analyzed using this instrument.
Description

Orbitrap mass spectrometry enables precise determination of molecular mass and sequential structural information following fragmentation using methods such as collision‑induced dissociation, higher‑energy collisional dissociation, and electron‑transfer dissociation. When combined with liquid chromatography, these capabilities allow efficient and reproducible analysis of complex samples, including protein digests.
The integration of mass spectrometry with differential ion mobility separation through the FAIMS Pro™ interface provides an additional separation dimension based on properties such as ion charge state, molecular shape, and conformation.
Applications
- Characterization of purified glycans and glycoproteins for glycomics and glycoproteomics
- Sequencing and linkage analysis of complex oligosaccharides
- Ion mobility–based molecular studies
