Shimadzu HPLC Reverse Phase

Shimadzu reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography system used for carbohydrate purification and molecular weight analysis
Shimadzu HPLC reverse‑phase system equipped with multiple detectors for purification and molecular weight characterization of carbohydrates.

Overview

This high‑performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) system is equipped with two complementary detectors. An evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD) enables near‑universal detection, while a multi‑angle light scattering (MALS) detector coupled with a refractive index (RI) detector supports size‑exclusion and gel‑permeation chromatography (SEC/GPC).

Description

This instrument is capable of purifying both aqueous and organic samples through
column chromatography. The ELSD enables detection of analytes that are not amenable
to ultraviolet–visible (UV‑Vis) detection.

In addition, the system supports detailed polymer characterization, including determination of number‑average molecular weight (Mn), weight‑average molecular weight (Mw), and specific refractive index increment (dn/dc) using the integrated MALS and RI detectors.

Applications

  • Purification of carbohydrates and related compounds
  • Molecular weight determination of carbohydrate polymers
  • SEC/GPC‑based polymer analysis
