MALDI-2 Mass Spectrometer (timsTOF Pro/fleX)

Overview

Bruker’s MALDI‑2 mass spectrometer provides a platform that enables data acquisition
in both electrospray and matrix‑assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) modes.
Samples ranging from biological tissues to purified molecules can be analyzed on
this instrument.

Description

MALDI-2 Mass Spectrometer
The Bruker MALDI‑2 mass spectrometer used for glycomaterials and biomolecular analysis.

Matrix‑assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI‑MSI) is used to study the spatial distribution of molecules in sections of material, both biological and synthetic. The MALDI‑2 incorporates a second laser that increases ion yield at small pixel sizes and reduces ion suppression effects, enabling the detection of a greater number of molecular features.

The combination of MALDI‑2 with ion mobility separation (IMS) capabilities supports a wide range of applications, from the analysis of small molecules on arrays to the characterization of glycans in human tissue samples.

Applications

  • Ion mobility studies
  • Characterization of purified glycans and glycoproteins
  • Microbial fingerprinting
  • Tissue characterization
