Anton Paar MCR-302

Anton Paar MCR 302 rheometer used for rheological characterization of liquids and gels
Anton Paar MCR‑302 modular compact rheometer used for rheological characterization
of glycomaterial samples.

Overview

Anton Paar’s modular compact rheometer (MCR 302) measures the flow behavior and viscoelastic properties of samples ranging from low‑viscosity liquids to soft solids and gels. Measurements can be conducted in rotational and oscillatory modes using a variety of interchangeable measuring geometries, such as concentric cylinders or cone-and-plate.

Description

The Anton Paar MCR 302 features a high‑precision air bearing, EC motor, integrated normal‑force sensor, and a high‑resolution optical encoder. These components enable rheological measurements over a torque range from 0.5 nN·m to 230 mN·m.

A high‑precision Peltier temperature control system allows temperature‑dependent measurements between −40 °C and 200 °C. The instrument supports rotational, oscillatory, and combined test modes to characterize viscosity, shear stress, shear modulus, and other rheological properties of liquids and gels.

Applications

  • Low‑viscosity liquids
  • Viscous Newtonian liquids (e.g., syrups)
  • Viscoelastic liquids (e.g., creams)
  • Bingham plastic fluids (e.g., pastes)
  • Polymer solutions
  • Soft solids and gels
